Project Description
This project involved building a full nature-based play area for a Perth childcare centre. The brief was a shaded, engaging outdoor space that could handle heavy daily use from a full centre of children, while fitting in naturally with the existing garden.
We built a timber cubby structure with a slide and a tunnel finished in synthetic turf, added rubber play mounds for climbing and balance play, and created a dedicated sand play area with a water pump feature and stepping-log path. Shade sails were installed throughout to keep the whole area usable year-round.
The result is a play space that’s varied, safe, and built to last — sand, timber, turf and natural materials working together rather than a single generic play structure.
Project Challenges

Working on an active childcare site meant fitting the build around the centre’s operating hours and keeping the space secure throughout construction.
Working around centre operating hours
Keeping the site secure during construction
Coordinating multiple play zones (sand, turf, timber) into one cohesive layout
Project Result

A completed nature play area the centre can use every day, with shade coverage, varied play zones, and materials chosen to hold up to constant use.
Full shade coverage across all play zones
Sand, turf and timber play areas delivered on schedule
A play space built for daily wear from a full centre of children
